“If life gives you limes, make margaritas.”
Jimmy Buffett
In this “Three for Thursday” post I’ll be presenting what I love to drink all summer long. I always make sure to have plenty of ice on hand, because the colder, the better!
Virgin Cape-Codder

I’ll start with my nighttime go-to drink, the virgin Cape Codder.
I use a water glass, nothing fancy crammed full of ice. I then fill it half way with diet ginger ale. I pour the ginger ale first to get rid of a lot of the fizz.
I then top it off with diet Ocean Spray cranberry juice. It’s simple and delicious!
When I’m feeling particularly festive, I sometimes add a shot or two of vodka. So they are not always virgins!
Sun Tea

My husband introduced me to sun tea in our first year of marriage. I had never heard of this method of making iced tea.
You simply place a few tea bags in a jar of tap water and place it in the hot summer sun for a couple of hours.
When the color is to your liking, pour it in a glass over ice. We mostly use Earl Grey decaf, but I like green tea and oolong varieties as well. Of course, with over 3,000 tea varieties, the flavor potential is vast. I find it amusing that back in the day my mother and her sister used to disagree on which tea was superior: Tetley or Lipton!
Skinny Margaritas

I saved the best for last…the magnificent margarita! Nothing screams “it’s summer” better than this beloved ice cold concoction of tequila and citrus flavor!
I could sing praises for Margaritas all day and night! It’s a drink I will never tire of and the stronger the better. I could probably write a whole anthology on all the adventures I’ve had, drinking my way around the world, while sailing the seven seas. I believe most of them would start with “so I went into this bar and ordered a margarita!”
For health reasons I’ve been reduced to diet margarita mix, but I won’t let that dampen my fun! 😉😜
So there you have it, folks – my “Three for Thursday” summer drinks. All this typing has made me thirsty! What are you drinking this summer?

Cranberry juice
Hi. The beverages I like best, year-round, are beer and hot coffee. My favorite specifically-for-summer beverage is iced tea. See ya. Neil S.
How do you make your margaritas?
Steve makes them by following the directions on the diet mix. We use Hornitos brand tequila. He mixes it up in a pitcher, pours it over ice, then adds some fresh squeezed lime. Sometimes he’ll add a splash of Grand Mariner for an extra pop of flavor. I salt the rim of the glasses. It has taken a while to get used to the low calorie mix. We use the Margaritaville brand. I hope you had a great birthday! 🎈🎈🎈
I am with you, love a margarita !
Mmmm sun tea!
